Grandma's Bulletin Board
This is the bulletin board I made to hang up all the treasures I get from my grandkids. I walk past it about a hundred times a day and it makes me smile everytime I see it!! Send more stuff!

Nike
This student is my friend Nike, that's the name he's given himself here in Hawaii. His last name is Chan, but he said 8 out of 10 people in Hong Kong have that name so he wanted to be different. He's one of the students that I tutor English with. We work on the assignment for 20 minutes, they we talk for the rest of the 40. I have really grown to love the Asians, they have a very special humble spirit.

Mountain Biking
Dad's newest hobby is mountain biking. He rode his bike almost up to Laie Falls. I think he needs a few pointers from Katie on self-portraits!

We took a little trip to the Big Island which is really called Hawaii, but that makes it a little confusing. We flew into Kona, got our rental and rushed to the temple except we didn't exactly know where it was so we got kind of lost! We made it just in time to attend the session. The Kona temple is very small, we went and sat down in the room and I just assumed that we would be moving so I didn't make a fuss that Katie was on the back row and I was on the front. After a few minutes, they turned off the lights and started the movie. I was a little disappointed that we couldn't sit by each other, but I got over it!
While Katie and Kris were here this summer we decided to try something new, Kayaking. We borrowed a Kayak from a friend and headed Kuloa Park. Katie and Kris went out first and had a good ride. Max and I decided to give it a go. Max had to keep his legs out because there wasn't room in the little boat. It was a little shaky at first but it was fun. I had to keep the life jacket on eventhough the water was pretty shallow. It was a good day! When you come to visit, we'll have to go out again.

Some of my favorite students
Food Fest at BYU Hawaii
Each semester BYUH has a foodfest. All the student clubs can participate. There was all kinds of food available. Bergstrom's were with us. Scott loves strange food so he was in heaven!

Plumeria
This is the beginning of a Plumeria tree. The flowers are used in making leis. Max cut a branch from a neighbor's tree and stuck it in the ground and this is what we got. It's just amazing to me. We started another one and it's already getting little buds on it. I love the flowers because they smell so sweet. It's really fun gardening here because things actually grow without any effort.
